How to Supply your Playing Card Artwork as Print Ready

  • Supply your cards as two pdfs if possible, one with the fronts and one with the backs. With each card having its own page to size in the pdf.
  • 3mm Bleed
  • 5mm artwork safe zone (no important elements within 5mm of the edge).

Playing Card Paper Types

The standard stock for playing cards is 350gsm artboard followed by 300gsm artboard. Choose from thicker stocks as you wish, for more info see below.

300 – 350gsm Artboard
Above all, artboard is a high-end satin-textured business card stock. Artboard (also known as silk) provides a professional and high-quality finish along with being the perfect paper to print on and achieve clarity. Touch them and you will notice a silky feel that also gives added protection and durability compared to lower end stocks. Furthermore, 350gsm is the best option for ordering playing cards online if you want something you are sure will work.

300gsm Cast Coat
Instantly recognisable even if you haven’t heard of it, cast coat is like a postcard – shiny on the front and uncoated on the back. As a result, it is perfect for those of us who need to write on the back of our cards appointment times and e-mails.

280gsm Hammerbond
Hammerbond is a very high end white textured uncoated stock. As a result of this, it has an extended life (especially with round corners) and helps to make your playing cards more personalised and stand out from more run of the mill paper types.

400gsm Hi-Bulk
400gsm Hi-Bulk is a white, uncoated smooth stock. It is durable and a great option to add weight to your brand when combined with round corners.

352gsm Kraft
352gsm Kraft stock is brown like craft paper. The perfect option for an eco-friendly look.

320gsm Linen
Above all the other options, 320gsm linen is the most textured. As such, it provides a professional and high-quality finish along with being the perfect option for minimalist brands.

300gsm System Board
This is a white high-end stock that has a subtle texture. It is uncoated and looks amazing with rounded corners.

Playing Card Finishes

Celloglaze

Available in either gloss/matt or a high-end velvet-textured option. Cello glazing offers a professional and high-quality finish to custom playing cards along with adding depth and colour. It has a smooth, silky feel and also gives added protection and durability, therefore, extending the life of the product.

Foil

Note: Requires Celloglaze
Metallic foil is transferred through heat on to the surface of the stock; this makes the area shiny with a brilliant metallic hue. It comes in gold, silver, copper, rose gold and spot UV (clear foil).
