The standard stock for brochures is 150gsm. In addition to this, there is a range of stocks from 80gsm up to 420gsm.
The heavier stocks need to be “scored” before folding to prevent cracking on the fold. Also, when selecting lighter stocks to be aware that if there is a lot of dark print there can be some “see-through” to the other side of the page.
80, 90 and 100gsm Bright White Laser
These are good inexpensive options, and are also very durable. In addition to being less expensive, they are lightweight, and still feel bulky – and less see-through.
115 – 350gsm Silk, Gloss, Matt
These are all high-end coated brochure printing stocks. They provide a professional and high-quality finish along with being the perfect paper to print on and achieve clarity. Touch them and you will notice a silky feel that also gives added protection and durability compared to lower-end stocks. If you are ordering brochure printing online and want to be sure of the best result, choose 150gsm silk.
420gsm Hi-Bulk is a white, sturdy stock that has a subtle paper texture. As a result of this, it has an extended life and helps to make your brochures stand out from more run of the mill paper types.
Stocks for Brochure Printing above 200gsm must be scored prior to folding to eliminate cracking on the folds. For reference, 300gsm and above is a business card thickness**
